My calling.

Gallery

…and, she is done.

Standard

Starting with a blank sheet of paper, sketching out an idea, and bringing that idea to life on a canvas is such a great experience, for me.
I always start with a definite idea (with my initial sketch) but, once I start adding colors, textures, swirls and strokes, I just let my mind go where it wants to go.  Totally unplanned.  So, in a way, it’s always a surprise to me (my art), once it’s finished.  Each of my little ladies takes on her own unique expression and life. It’s like I’ve created a new friend each time I finish one.
Happy Thursday, everybody!

“I once had a sparrow alight upon my shoulder for a moment, while I was hoeing in a village garden, and I felt that I was more distinguished by that circumstance that I should have been by any epaulet I could have worn.”
~Henry David Thoreau

VIRGINia Woolf.

Standard

Saturday, I purchased a gessoed artist board from Hobby Lobby. So much better working on this board than the usual paper I’ve been playing with. Amazing what a difference a nice surface can make. 😉 Who knew?

So, here’s the evolution of my VIRGINia Woolf.
*Did you know the starfish is symbolic of the Virgin Mary and can also represent guidance, intuition and inspiration? Again, who knew?

Happy Monday!
